What Kind of Day Has it Been? // 2015 in Review

I’m a sucker for these recaps. It gives me the chance to stop and reflect which in the midst of wedding season is often hard to do. From snowy engagement shoots in the common, to weddings on the Cape, in Maine and everywhere in between, to buying a house, to new friends, old friends, and more memories then I could ever hope to encapsulate in a single blog post, this year has been off the charts. I’m grateful for each of the people featured in this post and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving me the opportunity to do what I love. Here’s to a killer 2015 and kicking ass in 2016. <3

Krista + John // New Year’s Eve in Boston

In the whirlwind that was the close of our 2014, I whiffed on blogging this day. In the spring I had it ready to go, but decided to wait. What better to close out 2015 then the moment that began it? So one year late, I present John + Krista’s New Year’s Eve wedding at the Marriott Long Wharf.

For the first time in a few years we won’t be shooting on New Year’s. It’s bittersweet. I’m excited to celebrate with the most understanding group of friends who have heard the words, “can’t, we have a wedding,” too many times over the last year. But there are few moments that top a New Year’s wedding countdown. Krista + John, thank you for making us a part of this day. Photographing you two as the clock struck midnight and confetti rained down around you is a moment I won’t ever forget. Happy Anniversary!

Laura + John // Wedding at Turner Hill

In getting to know Laura + John over the past year, I had no doubt in my mind what their wedding at Turner Hill would be like. Full of love (talk to these two for five minutes and you know you’re in the presence of something special), full of humor, and unique. But even in knowing all that, I think I underestimated it. As I stood in the middle of the dance floor and everyone in attendance serenaded the bride, I realized I’m capturing something special. Laura + John’s commitment to each other and in making this day their own were obvious in every detail. I’m grateful for couples like these two, you make this the best job in world.

Kristin + Bryan // Wedding on Peaks Island

Oh Maine, my old friend, thank you for being you. In my relatively short time shooting weddings, not once have you let me down. This was no exception.

Kristin + Bryan were married on a perfect September afternoon on Peaks Island, right off the coast of Portland in the Casco Bay. This day was beautiful, bursting with love and as honest as a wedding day gets. Thank you Kristin + Bryan for letting us celebrate with you two – we couldn’t have asked for better.

Jen + Steve | Cape Code Wedding at Wychmere Beach Club

With our wedding season winding down and the colder days of winter staring us dead in the face, I’m actually pretty excited that I have this wealth of summer weddings still to share. I’ve been a bad blogger lately, but my failure to blog before delivering these beautiful weddings means I’ll be able to blog, and blog and blog until everything starts up again in 2016. We’re going to jump around a bit as I work back, but let’s start here, shall we? Cape Cod. Wychmere. Jen + Steve.

We’ve been on the Cape a few times this year and fortunately those weddings have come at exactly the times we’ve wanted to escape reality for a minute. Nothing like a couple days of sun and ocean to help you forget that you have a home that won’t clean itself… Jen + Steve were married late in the summer on a perfect day at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port. Beautiful detailing from from Antea Amoroso Design, a lot of familiar faces, a killer band (Mystique), a beautiful venue, and a couple deserving of every minute of this awesome day. Enough from me.

Ana Maria + Mike | Hellenic Center Wedding

This is love. From the very start, this wedding day was exploding with emotion. By the end, it was impossible to not get caught up in it. Two families from different backgrounds coming together. Two people so obviously in love and so right for one another. This is what a wedding is all about. The Hellenic Center still doesn’t know what hit it.

Emily + Josh | Gibbet Hill Wedding

Emily + Josh were married on a perfect day at Gibbet Hill in Groton last July. I met these two over a year ago at Josh’s brother Brandon’s wedding and I was so excited when I got the call from Emily to photograph their day. Frankie + I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with – anyone willing to hike 10 minutes up hill to take advantage of castle ruins is a-ok in my book. Alyssa + Henry | Commander’s Mansion Wedding

Wedding days like this are what it’s about. A perfectly down to earth couple who so clearly care deeply for one another, friends + family eager to celebrate their love and a perfect day to put on a wedding. Alyssa + Henry were married on a beautiful afternoon earlier this summer at the Commander’s Mansion. Overcast skies held off until vows were exchanged, giving us the chance to grab one nighttime shot in the rain. Can’t thank these two enough for welcoming us on their wedding day. Congrats!

Allie + Joey | Searles Castle Wedding

Allie + Joey were married on a beautiful Saturday afternoon last month at Searles Castle in New Hampshire. Frankie and I felt so welcome the moment we arrived – nothing but love, laugher and good vibes. After getting ready at her parent’s house, Allie + Joey shared an adorable first look at Searles. Their ceremony was perfectly overcast, making all the gorgeous details and greens around the ceremony site pop. We couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to celebrate with – enjoy the preview!
