Meaghan + Justin // Wedding at the Wolfeboro Inn

A Wedding at the Wolfeboro Inn

I’m so excited to share this recap of Meaghan and Justin’s wedding at the Wolfeboro Inn from earlier this summer. I first met these two in January of 2015, on a snowy Saturday morning over coffee in Davis Square. When we talked about their plans, a brunch wedding on Lake Winnipesaukee, I immediately fell in love with their day.

A year and a half later, I can safely say their wedding day delivered better than I ever could have ever imagined. Love, friends, family, laughter, tears – this wedding was an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. I loved every minute of it.

Thank you to Tracy Dapp with Inked Events for coordinating an impeccable day, Spinner Music Productions for providing the perfect soundtrack, Promessa Studios for shooting alongside us and The Wolfeboro Inn for the wonderful hospitality.

The Perfect Anniversary Gift

So I want to talk about this weekend and the most incredible anniversary gift anyone will ever give us. First off, you need to meet three people.

Let’s start with Matt and Mo. When we originally entertained the idea of shooting on our wedding anniversary, it had to be the right couple. We knew we’d be giving up an important day and it had to feel right. Well, five minutes into talking, it was sealed – if they’d have us, we’d be there. These are the type of people you want in your life. Kind, loving, generous, positive – and that was all after one meeting. This wouldn’t be “working” on our anniversary, it would be sharing October 1 with two incredible people.

And onto the third person you need to know – DJ Buono. I’ve made a lot of friends in the wedding industry over the past five years and hands down, there is no better person than DJ. He originally MC’ed our wedding back in 2011, and since then he’s been the first name I pass along to anyone looking for a DJ. As Frankie and I have built our business, we’ve managed to cross paths numerous times and for a litany of reasons, they’ve always been my favorite weddings.

So here we are, all together on October 1 on a rainy day not too different from five years earlier. Halfway through the reception DJ hops on the mic and announces to the dance floor that’s its our fifth year anniversary. How five years earlier he was with us then and how we danced to Cheek to Cheek by Frank Sinatra. And then Frankie and I got to do it all again.

We put down our cameras for three minutes and danced together side by side with Matt and Mo while DJ grabbed my camera and stole a few photos. Who gets the opportunity to dance to their first dance song, on their fifth anniversary, with their original DJ behind the booth?? Who gets to work with a couple so selfless they were thinking about us on their wedding day?? I was floored then, and I’ve even more floored reflecting on it now.

It was an absolute surreal moment – a priceless gift that I will never ever forget. Thank you three for making it happen.

Anneliese + Josh // Wedding at Willowdale Estate

A Midsummer Willowdale Estate Wedding

I’m so stoked to share this recap of Anneliese and Josh’s wedding at Willowdale Estate from earlier this year. I’ve had my heart set on shooting at Willowdale for years, and this wedding absolutely delivered. Even more impressive is that these two planned from across the country while living in LA. A perfect day from start to finish, full of love, emotion and a crazy dance party. Enjoy the recap.

Amanda + Erik // A Glen Magna Farms Engagement

Late Summer at Glen Magna Farms

If you can’t tell from this post, we laughed a lot during this session. Earlier this summer I met up with Erik and Amanda to shoot around Glen Magna Farms in Danvers. These two have an infectious personality and you just can’t help but smile when you’re around them.

Later this year I’ll be celebrating the New Year with these two during their winter wedding at the Ferncroft Country Club. I’ve lucked out with some pretty awesome couples for my New Year’s weddings, and this year is no exception. I couldn’t ask for a better couple to help me ring in 2017.

Victoria + Mike // A State Room Wedding

A State Room Wedding and Some Awesome People

I’m grateful when weddings bring new friends into our orbit.  I met Vicky and Mike just about a year ago at Kerri and Mike’s wedding in Lincoln. We chatted, I learned about their State Room wedding day and we set some time to shoot engagement photos around Jamaica Pond. We ended that session by drinking home brew saisons and shooting photos with their cat Pinot (who makes a cameo below). Even before that moment I knew this was going to be a great fit, but that sealed it. How could it not?

Flash forward to earlier this summer in Boston where the weekend kicked off with a rehearsal dinner at the Barking Crab and wrapped with a beautiful ceremony and reception at the State Room. This was my first opportunity to photograph an entire weekend, start to finish, and it really paid off. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to spend two days with or a better group of friends and family to document. Shout out to Longwood Events for once again being some of the best people in this business, Groove Authority for rocking all night and Veracious Productions for shooting alongside us.

So without further adieu.

Alex + Steve // A Rainy Day UConn Wedding

Sunsets, Swing Bands and a UConn Wedding

This UConn wedding day had it all. Rain, a crazy sunset, ice cream stops on the way to the reception, art galleries, a swing band, a beautiful ceremony and two of the best people around.

You feel better when you’re around Alex and Steve. They are two of the most positive people I’ve met and after photographing them last year at UConn, Frankie and I had this date circled.

The wedding day began at St. Mark’s Church on the UConn campus. Alex and Steve’s relationship is deeply tied to St. Mark’s and you could see how at home and comfortable they felt within the chapel. It was an honor to witness them exchange vows in a place so near and dear to them. For me, it certainly doesn’t hurt when the chapel is a photographer’s dream.

The sunset that capped the evening was just gravy on an unforgettable wedding day. I’m so excited to share this preview.

A Beacon Hill Engagement

I feel like this is a stylistic departure for me. Maybe it’s not – I’m too close to my work to really know when I’m doing something different, but it felt different when I shot it. One thing I’m sure of – I talk way too much during my engagements. So for this session, I just shut up and documented the two people in front of me. Some pointed direction here and there, but basically it was all them. And that was awesome. Every time I shoot a Beacon Hill engagement I try to do something different to keep it fresh. So I tried shutting up and it worked out better than I couldn’t hoped.

Hillary + Ken, I’ll see you two in September. I’ll be crossing my fingers for a warmer afternoon, but I know you two can rock a chilly day like none other.

Technical crap, finally rocking the Nikon 58 1.4. This thing is a game changer for me – the perfect focal length for the look I’m going for and the quality I need. I don’t know how I’ve gone so long without it.

Brittany + Greg // Lighthouse Inn Wedding

A Foggy Night at the Lighthouse Inn

A Lighthouse Inn Wedding on Cape Cod. I love Cape Cod – we don’t shoot there nearly enough (wink wink nudge nudge future couples). I appreciate that most Cape weddings turn into little destination weddings for the people traveling down, so for the most part – the celebration never ends with everyone being on site with the couple. Brittany and Greg were married on a beautiful June day earlier this summer which played out in typical cape fashion. The morning started off sunny and warm but quickly gave way to a moody, foggy, evening soon after the ceremony.

The reception incorporated the lighthouse motif of the inn throughout the decor and table settings and I can’t say enough about the beautiful florals from J Smith Floral Design (including the largest bouquet we’ve ever photographed). I’m grateful to have been a part of this day and I’m so excited to share this recap!
